Zelda Challenge – Day 30

Day 30: Your expectations/thoughts on Skyward Sword and/or Ocarina of Time re-make?

I haven’t played Skyward Sword yet… I really should get on playing that and Twilight Princess already.

Ocarina of Time 3D was a pretty great remake, in my opinion.  The textures were nicely updated and looked great, and having the touch screen available for the Ocarina and other item equips helps with not having to change your items was good too.  Little else was changed, though, so gamers were able to enjoy what Ocarina of Time really was.  The addition of Master Quest was a great touch, too.  Overall, a terrific remake.

Zelda Challenge – Day 29

Day 29: Favorite side-quest, why?

I don’t know if it counts as a side-quest, but I’ve always liked the little trading circles the games would have.  People would ask for the craziest things, and it was interesting to see what they’d use things like pots or clocks for… and what they’d give you in return!

Also, even though it was a bit of a pain, I liked taking pictures for the guy to make mini statues in Wind Waker.  If only you could take more than three pictures at a time…

Zelda Challenge – Day 27

Day 27: Favorite and least favorite cut-scene?

What, Zelda games have cutscenes?

Joking aside, I haven’t played most of the modern Zeldas, so my choices are somewhat limited.  I suppose my favorite was near the end of Wind Waker; the scene right after you beat Ganondorf.  I won’t spoil it, but that was an impressive scene.

My least favorite is probably the one that plays in Phantom Hourglass every time you boot it up… you know, the one of Tetra being all like “Help me?”  It’s just plain annoying.

Zelda Challenge – Day 26

Day 26: From re-deads, to deadhands, wallmasters and skulltulas and so on, which always scared or still scares you the most?

All have them have at least startled me at one point or another.  Usually the first time I saw the respective terrifying foe, they’d get a jump out of me.  However, the only ones that still scare me are the ReDeads.  There’s just something about them that still sends them down my spine… when they scream and you’re just frozen to the spot aas the lumber towards you… terrifying…

Zelda Challenge – Day 25

Day 25: What’s one of your biggest complaints or rants that you have about the series?

Unlike a lot of people, I’m not too upset about the series using the same formula for their games.  Then again, I am a Dragon Quest fan, and that series (used to be) the king of the ‘tried and true’ formula.  I’m also not too upset about the series’ emphasis on gameplay as compared to story; I do love my stories, but I don’t go to the Zelda series for that, really.

To be honest, I don’t have many complaints about the Zelda series in itself, it’s more with the fanbase itself.  Maybe it’s just me looking at Zelda Informer’s comments section too often, but hardcore Zelda fans are kind of jerks.  Almost every article that isn’t a news post is met with “Well that’s common sense” or “That doesn’t make sense” of “The official timeline is wrong” and other comments of general discontent.  Can’t we just enjoy the games and the people that enjoy them with us?
